Singapore Round Table on Trade and Supply Chains with Minister S. Iswaran

29. Juni 2022

Singapore was the first country in Southeast Asia to succesfully negotiate and establish a Free Trade Agreement with the European Union (EU). The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA) entered into force in November 2019, shortly before the pandemic hit international trade relations and supply chains. The covid-19 pandemic, and since February this year the war in Ukraine, have caused shocks and disruptions to the international flows of goods. German and Singapore businesses have proven themselves resilient and adaptable during this difficult period, and remain keen to stay plugged into the global economy. What can the path to recovery look like and how can Singapore and Germany, as open and free trading economies, co-operate to make the international trade system and supply chains more resilient to future shocks?

Discuss this among other topics with Singapore’s Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations and Minister for Transport Mr S. Iswaran during a Round Table organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Berlin and the APA – German Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business.
