4th Korean-German Energy Day

07. Dezember 2022, Berlin

Korea and Germany are committed to the decarbonization of their economies, notably their energy systems. As advanced industrial economies, both countries face similar challenges in this regard. However, achieving Net Zero emissions also comes with many possible economic benefits.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), we would therefore like to invite you to the 4th Korean-German Energy Day. This year’s conference will be held under the title “Net Zero: Embrace the Opportunities of the Energy Transition”.

The Korean-German Energy Day is part of the Korean-German Energy Partnership formed between the two ministries in December 2019. With this event we provide a platform for energy experts from government, industry, research and civil society to exchange views, engage with one another and learn from each other’s experiences.

Aligned with the event’s title this year’s Korean-German Energy Day will explore different opportunities of the energy transition against the backdrop of this challenging time of global energy insecurity that we are currently facing. After a welcome from 2nd Vice Minister Park Il-Jun (MOTIE) and State Secretary Patrick Graichen (BMWK) the conference will begin with a panel discussion on economic opportunities of the energy transition. Subsequently, clean hydrogen and its role for both economies on their way to Net Zero will be explored in a panel discussion with stakeholders from Korea and Germany. Finally, the conference will end with the highly relevant topic of energy efficiency by addressing policy approaches as well as best practices in both countries. The agenda can be found here.
