Webinar: China Legal Update - Chinese Foreign Investment Law

29. April 2020

During the last few years, foreign investors have been much more critical of alleged Chinese protectionism and unequal treatment of foreign invested enterprises. The latest conflict between Washington and Beijing was therefore merely the peak of international pressure. The impact of the Phase 1 Deal signed by both sights in January 2020 has yet to be assessed.

China reacted in 2019 by passing a new Foreign Investment Law which entered into effect on 1 January 2020. The reform was anticipated by the international community for some time and the expectations towards the reform have been high. However experts are observing the changes critically.

Are these new regulations going to ensure equal and fair conditions between foreign and domestic investors and will it eventually ease the process of investing and doing business in China? And is China seeking a convergence to international standards?

We kindly invite you to discuss these among other questions at our Webinar “Chinese Legal Update – New Foreign investment Law” on 29 April 2020 organized by the OAV and CMS international law firm.

Dr. Ulrike Glück, Managing Partner of CMS, China will cover the implementing regulations of the new Foreign Investment Law and recent other changes in regulations relating to FDI and M&A. Additionally Dr. Glück will examine the adjustments on regional headquarters.

As a participant, you will then have the opportunity to ask questions directly following the presentations. The webinar will be moderated by Fenja Gatz from the OAV.
The Webinar will be held in English.
