The World Health Organization (WHO) declared public health emergencies of international concern (PHEIC) on January 30, 2020. The German Federal Foreign Office warns against trips to the province of Hubei in China. Travel to the rest of the country of the People's Republic of China with the exception of the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions is not recommended until further notice. When staying in China, considering the increasing constraints, temporary or early departure should be considered.

The OAV is closely following current developments related to the novel coronavirus (Covid-2019 / SARS-CoV-2) and takes the situation very seriously. As we focus on the Asia-Pacific region, we are aware that employees of our member companies regularly travel to and work in the region.

The German Federal Foreign Office has issued a partial travel warning for the province of Hubei, and unnecessary trips to other parts of China are not recommended. In some countries in the Asia-Pacific region and also in Europe, cases of infection have now occurred.

We therefore ask you to evaluate whether you have stayed in a “high-risk area” declared by the WHO or whether you were exposed to an increased risk of infection in the last 14 days before you would come to OAV events. If this is the case, we would like to ask you in your own interest and that of the other participants to refrain from participating in OAV events such as the 100th Ostasiatisches Liebesmahl. In these cases, of course we will not charge you any participation fee.

For further information, please refer to the websites of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI)

Additional information and travel information can be found under Downloads and also in the individual country section of our website (accessible only for OAV members; in German only).
